“WOULD YOU BE MINE?”

“The LORD your God is among you; He is mighty to save. He will rejoice over you with gladness; He will quiet you with His love; He will rejoice over you with singing.” -Zephaniah 3:17

****

I woke up this morning and thought of the above verse.  When I rolled over and saw the glorious sun shinning through the window, I remembered a little song I heard years ago as well….

The song from Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood began to play over and over in my head.  Where did that come from???  Take a look at the words:

It’s a beautiful day in this neighborhood,
A beautiful day for a neighbor,
Would you be mine?
Could you be mine?

It’s a neighborly day in this beautywood,
A neighborly day for a beauty,
Would you be mine?
Could you be mine?

I have always wanted to have a neighbor just like you,
I’ve always wanted to live in a neighborhood with you.

So let’s make the most of this beautiful day,
Since we’re together, we might as well say,
Would you be mine?
Could you be mine?
Won’t you be my neighbor?

Won’t you please,
Won’t you please,
Please won’t you be my neighbor?
-From Mr. Rogers Neighborhood

Then I heard God say, “Every morning I make the sun come up in all of its splendor, casting its beautiful colors across the sky…the birds begin to sing My message to a lost and dying world.  I want YOU to be My neighbor…My friend…My child!”   Then He changed the words a bit and I heard…“Would you be Mine?  You CAN be Mine!  PLEASE!  Won’t you be My child?”

It’s your choice my friend.  Softly and tenderly, Jesus is whispering your name.  He’s singing over you right now, and inviting you to be His.  Come to Him.  Call on Him!  Become a part of Heaven’s neighborhood.  You’ll never regret it!
