I was reading something in one of my devotional books this morning.  It was something I’ve never given much thought to before.

We see several verses in the Bible that speak of eternal life.  I want to share a few…

I tell you the truth, whoever hears what I say and believes in the One who sent Me has eternal life.  That person will not be judged guilty but has already left death and entered life.” -John 5:24

“I tell you the truth, whoever believes has eternal life.” -John 6:47

“My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow Me.  I give them eternal life, and they will never die, and no one can steal them out of My hand.  My Father gave my sheep to Me.  He is greater than all, and no person can steal My sheep out of My Father’s hand.” -John 10:27-29

In John 5:28-29, (and I am paraphrasing) the Bible talks about those who have done good in their life, and accepted Jesus as their Savior, they will rise to live.  But for those who have done evil…they will rise to be condemned.

God is speaking all the time!  He continually…relentlessly calls ALL men to repentance.  But some never listen.  So when He comes back, it will be the first time that some have ever heard His voice.  That will be the only time they ever hear His voice…and sadly, they will hear it in judgment.  Why?  Because He never called?  No!  …Because they never listened!

But to those of us that KNOW Jesus as our Lord and Savior, it will be a sweet, familiar voice.  It is the voice of our Shepherd!  When Jesus knocked upon the door of our heart, we heard His call,  we answered the door, and invited Him in.

We need to urge the lost around us to hear  the voice of Jesus.  Hearing His voice, and opening the door of your heart…inviting the Savior to enter…THIS is the key to eternal life!
