This morning, as I sat praying for my son Joe, I was reminded of the following hymn.

I had more apprehension today in regards to his well-being than on most days.  His 3rd grad class is traveling to the mountains for a ski trip.  He’s never gone sking, and he has NEVER gone off with a bunch of folks that I personally don’t know.

He will be riding in a truck with a lady I hardly know, being “watched” by her, the teachers, and some other moms that are going….  I am FRAZZELED!!!  I have no control over what happens to him today….  Then God reminded me that I really don’t have control over what happens to him on any given day!  And…God loves him more than I do!  We as moms believe that no one could love our kids more than we do…but God does!  Joe belonged to God long before he belonged to me…

Then  the Lord brought to mind the verse that says,  ” Live carefree before God; he is most careful with you.” -1 Peter 5:7b MSG  In the KJV it puts it this way, “ Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.”

After God reminded me of those verses, He brought to mind the following old hymn.  Take a look…

He Hideth My Soul

  1. A wonderful Savior is Jesus my Lord,
    A wonderful Savior to me;
    He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock,
    Where rivers of pleasure I see.

    • Refrain:
      He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock,
      That shadows a dry, thirsty land;
      He hideth my life in the depths of His love,
      And covers me there with His hand,
      And covers me there with His hand.
  2. A wonderful Savior is Jesus my Lord,
    He taketh my burden away,
    He holdeth me up and I shall not be moved,
    He giveth me strength as my day.
  3. With numberless blessings each moment He crowns,
    And filled with His fullness divine,
    I sing in my rapture, oh, glory to God!
    For such a Redeemer as mine.
  4. When clothed with His brightness transported I rise
    To meet Him in clouds of the sky,
    His perfect salvation, His wonderful love,
    I’ll shout with the millions on high. –Frances J. Crosby pub. 1890

If you find yourself fretting and worrying today, give your cares to Jesus!  He WILL cover you with His mighty hand and deliver you from all evil…because He cares for YOU!
