There are so many things on the internet now about Detoxing your body. There are certain spices that ‘do the trick’ in just a few days time… drink recipes, soups, even complete meals. They are great! I’ve tried a few and they do work.
But…what about our spiritual state? Are we dead men walking? My spiritual man, needs to be Detoxed on a daily basis!
Jesus warned the Pharisees in the Bible about washing the outside of the cup and making it look clean…but leaving the inside dirty. Look at Matthew chapter 23. The whole chapter is dedicated to this very thing! Verse 25 says, “Woe to you Scribes and Pharisees, impostors, who wash the outside of the cup and of the dish, but within are full of plunder and evil*!
Yes…some of us take such good care of our bodies…we look like the statues of Greek Gods on the outside…lean, muscular, beautiful… but inside, there’s ugliness of every kind. Look at verse 27 in the same chapter…
“Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you are like unto whitewashed sepulchers (tombs, graves), which indeed appear beautiful outwardly but are within full of dead men’s bones, and of all uncleanness.”
Some of us think that just because we go to church on Sunday, read The Gathering Journal blog, or some other christian blog everyday, pick up our Bible, our Daily Bread…or some other devotional book once in a while, “talk the talk” of a Christian, and say our repetitious, almost memorized prayers at meal-time and at bed time, that we have Detoxed our spiritual man. Let me say…those things help…but we need more.
Jesus advised us to:
Romans 10:13 KJV
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord, shall be saved.
This is # 1! I believe this verse reaches farther than Salvation. Of course, to be saved, we MUST call upon the name of the Lord; but I believe that if you are saved already…if you have a personal relationship with Jesus, certain situations will arise, and if you call on the name of Jesus…he will deliver you from those things.
Then in the following passages, Jesus advises this:
Ephesians 6:11-18King James Version (KJV)
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
Philippians 4:8King James Version (KJV)
8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
Lets stop being “The walking dead…” and let’s be THE CHURCH, ALIVE!
