REASSURANCE…JUST FOR TODAY!

Well…it’s happened again! I don’t know ‘why’ I get so surprised…this is not a new occurence!  Let me explain…

Tomorrow will be Joe’s first day of school.  He’s been home-schooled for the last 5 years. I began teaching him at the age of 4…but tomorrow he will go to a public school for the first time.  I have to admit…I’m a little worried.  I want him to ‘fit in’ socially, but at the same time, I want him to ‘stand out’ and be extraordinary…not ordinary.  I tell him that all the time…”Don’t be common…don’t be ordinary.  Be extraordinary…be different!”

The stress of it all finally hit me this morning.  As I reached for a promise from God in my box of Promises, I really didn’t know what to ask Him for.  So…that’s exactly what I told Him as my fingers touched the box so full of His goodness.  I said, “Lord…I need something today, and I’m not even sure just ‘what’ it is that I need to calm my spirit… but you do!  Please give me the reassurance I need – just for today….”

I kept trying to pick just one promise…but it was like they were all stuck together – until I grabbed them and took them from the box.  There were four (4) in my hand!  Here’s what they all said, and this is the exact order they came in.  Take a look…

  • “For whatsoever is born of God overcomes the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world…even our faith. -1 John 5:4

“Go to the depths of God’s promise, and claim whatsoever you will; The blessing of God will not fail you, His Word He will surely fulfill.” -Unknown

  • “Study to show yourself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. -2 Timothy 2:15

“Since I must fight if I would reign; increase my courage, Lord!  I’ll bear the toil, endure the pain, supported by Your Word.”  -Unknown

  • “I will bless the Lord at all times:  His praise shall continually be in my mouth.” – Psalm 34:1

“Where the whole realm of nature mine, that were a present far too small; love so amazing, so divine, demands my soul, my life, my all!” – Old hymn

  • “Wherefore, also take unto you the whole armour of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”  – Eph. 6:13

“The foe is stern and eager, the fight is fierce and long.  But He has made us mighty, and stronger than the strong.” -Unknown

If you’re struggling today…give it to God.  Tell Him exactly how you feel; then go to His Word…let Him direct you and give you the reassurance you need…just for today!
