The LORD gives strength to his people; the LORD blesses his people with peace. -Psalm 29:11
And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. -Philippians 4:7
My husband’s nephew just passed away, so hearts are heavy, and sadness fills the void. He was only 54…too young to die! It’s awful to lose someone close to you, but even worse I think for a parent to outlive their child! He was a son, a husband, a father, an uncle, a nephew, a grandfather, a cousin, a brother, a friend. His death has touched us all! We will miss him!
But God says, He will give strength and the blessing of peace to those that KNOW Him. We know these things to be truth, but tend to forget them when we are in the midst of trouble and loss. But God says if we’ll just keep our minds on Him…”He will guard our hearts and minds and give us a peace which transcends all understanding.”
I’m reminded of one of my favorite old hymns called, Peace…Peace…Wonderful Peace! The words go like this…
“Far away in the depths of my spirit tonight, rolls a melody sweeter than Psalm; in celestial-like strains, it unceasingly falls…’ore my soul, like an infinite calm! Peace…peace…wonderful peace! Coming down from the Father above; sweep over my spirit forever I pray…in fathomless billows of love!”
Those words just about sum it up! When we are troubled in the depths of our spirit, if we can just listen for a moment, we will hear God singing over us, and peace will come! “The LORD your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves… He will rejoice over you with singing.” -Zephaniah 3:17
Will you please pray for peace over this grieving family? We would appreciate it so very much!
