This morning, I went to my Promise Box.  I needed ‘a word’ from the Lord.  He gave me much more.  I share His message now, with you. -anita

“Where sin abounded, grace did much more abound.”-Romans 5:20

I think I’ve shared this with many of you before, but when I was growing up, my family was very poor!  If it had not been for the  many folks in our church…we would have starved to death.

One of those folks in particular, was a lady we called, “Mom Whitson.”  She was a “mother” to everyone in need!  I was only four years old…but I remember her well.  She is the person that gave my folks the Promise Box that I now have.  She wrote a little note to my dad on the promise I just quoted above.  What a blessing to find it!

It says, “Maurice…I drew this for you with a prayer-Mom W.”

There was a little poem on the back:

“In busy mart and crowded street, no less than in the still retreat, Thou, Lord, are near, our souls to bless.” -Unknown.

Then she wrote below it, “How I want His presence to ever be near me!”

AMEN to that!

I picked up another promise.  It says this:  “Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” II Timothy 2:15.

The little poem underneath it goes like this…

“Since I must fight if I would reign;

Increase my courage, Lord!

I’ll bear the toil, endure the pain,

Supported by Thy Word.” -Unknown

So…all of this tells me that, yes…I am a sinful creature by nature; but God in His mercy and unfathomable grace, has…and will continue to deliver me from sin.  BUT…I must study God’s Word, and fight temptation when it comes my way.  There is another verse in I John 5:4, that says: “For whatsoever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that overcomes the world, even our FAITH.”

Next time the devil comes knocking at your door…be like the little kid in the movie, “Home Alone.”  Pick up your sword, (The Word of God) and declare out-loud to yourself…”This is it…don’t get scared now!”  You see, THAT is faith!  …Knowing that God will help you overcome the enemy!  Then FIGHT!  And you will one day reign with Him!
