Here’s one for us all the think about! It’s written by our own, Sherrie Evans! Enjoy! -anita
The surprising thing about the recent presidential election was that good, honest, admirable people saw things differently. For me this included close friends and family. One view was that the world would end with a Trump Presidency and the other the world would end with a Hillary Clinton presidency.
I thought “How can good people hold such opposing views?” One candidate was the antithesis of the other. I felt like the answer was what we listen to what we fill our minds with. One possibly NPR or the other conservative radio.
The lesson for me personally was “What am I filling my mind with.” Is it the living word of God or the temporal fleeting things of this earth? Do I delegate scripture to a half hour in the morning and worldly thoughts the rest of the day? Do I have more faith in God because of what I listen to or am I being filled with thoughts that work against trust in God.
Practical ways to listen to scripture more:
Listening to an audio bible. Gateway Bible on-line has a way to listen to the scripture.
Memorizing scripture makes it easier to meditate on it.
Many worship songs have scripture in them. YouTube has worship songs to listen to.
Romans 10:17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.
Psalm 1:2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night.
Psalm 19:14 May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.
25 Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, 26 that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, 27 so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish.
