“I have a heritage of bliss, which yet I may not see; The Hand that bled to make it mine, is keeping it for me!” -Unknown
Today is Friday, a day much sought after, especially in the work-world! Everyone is tired, and ready for a break. Working all week-long will make you weary…but we all must do it in order to get a paycheck. This paycheck will not last however. It will be gone in no time. Everyone is in line, with their hand out saying, “That’s mine. You owe me for rent… or the car payment…or the energy bill…. And the list goes on; so work goes on…and on… and on!
The same holds true in the Christian life. We work for the Kingdom…NOT TO KEEP OUR SALVATION, but we work because we have been redeemed by Jesus and pulled from the miry clay…from the pit we were in before He found us! We must endure ridicule from those that have no understanding of our Savior, persecution for our beliefs, and yes, even shunning from our own family at times; but read the following verse. A day is coming when we shall receive a crown of glory that doesn’t fade away!
“When the chief Shepherd (Jesus) shall appear, you shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.” I Peter 5:4
The above verse reminds me of a little poem I have hanging on my wall. I’ve had it for years, but it is a constant reminder to me in times of testing. Here’s what it says:
“Only one life, twill soon be past. Only what’s done for Christ, will last!” -Unknown
So, hang in there! Remember, a better day is coming. We, that know Jesus, all have something to look forward to…a crown of glory…a heritage of bliss!
