MY HELP COMES FROM THE LORD…

Here’s a really good one from one of our new writers for the blog!  This really spoke to my heart!  Thanks for sharing Heidi! -anita

What do we do when the world around us seems to be closing in? Falling apart? Spinning out of control?

I know from experience there is only one real strength to lean on, one true God to call out to. His name is Jesus. He is in control and He does care about his children.
Trials. Why Lord? Couldn’t we just sing worship songs, talk about your goodness, share now and then about who you are and why you came to this fallen world? Teach our children about your great love and desire for them?
Still trials.
I choose to trust in you Lord. From the time I was a little girl until today, at 54 years old, I knew you existed and I wanted to know more about you. You have taught me about your awesome work in this earth, you have shown me who the Messiah is, and now you are making me into the image of your son. Why me? There are so many lost and hurting, why me? I have the honor of naming your name as my King. What can I do to bring you glory and honor? To show others your love and your desire for them to be yours. Completely yours.
“In this ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold trials, that the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perishes, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ, Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory.” 1 Peter 1:7,8 KJV
It appears the Lord does a great work through trials. “These have come so that your faith – of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire – may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.” 1 Peter 1:7 NIV
So I find myself clinging to the Lord, and to his mercy and strength. Hoping and believing in his word, the word that sustains me. Attempting  to remain in faith, not fear.
“In you, O Lord, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame; deliver me in your righteousness. Turn your ear to me, come quickly to my rescue; be my rock and refuge, a strong fortress to save me. Since you are my rock and my fortress, for the sake of your name lead and guide me.” Psalm 31:1-3
Still singing worship songs and praying. Hopefully sharing my testimony more and more, this testimony that only grows bigger every year. I hope to be able to say without any reservations, as Job did, “I know that you can do all things; no plan of yours can be thwarted. You (God) asked, ‘Who is this that obscures my counsel without knowledge?’ Surely I spoke of things I did not understand, things too wonderful for me to know… My ears had heard of you but now my eyes have seen you.” Job 42:3,5
Thank you Lord. You are the One who saves me.  I love you more with each passing year and I continue to “Lift up my eyes to the hills – where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of Heaven AND Earth.”
