I drew a promise this morning after praying and telling the Lord that I really needed Him today. Here is what I drew…maybe it’s what you need to hear as well…
“Turn unto the Lord your God: for He is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness.” Joel 2:13
My Promise Box is sitting on my microwave, right next to the refrigerator; so I paused and pondered upon my ‘refrigerator notes’ for a moment. In Amos 5:21-24 (MSG) I read: “I can’t stand your religious meetings. I’m fed up with your conferences and conventions. I want nothing to do with your religion projects, your pretentious slogans and goals. I’m sick of your fund-raising schemes, your public relations and image making. I’ve had all I can take of your noisy ego-music. WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU SANG TO ME?
That last phrase brought a song to my remembrance. Clint Brown sings a song about worshipping God “ALONE.” Part of the words state:
“You don’t need majestic choirs, with awesome voices raised…you don’t need a congregation, to offer Me your praise…you don’t need a mighty orchestra to bless Me with your song; you get all of My attention when you worship Me alone!”
WOW! God wants us to seek Him for ourselves. He’s not interested in our traditions, rituals, or ceremonies. They aren’t necessary for worship! There is no “Chain of Command,” or level we must reach in order to meet and talk with God! NO ONE has a ‘corner’ on reaching God! The Priest, the Pastor, the Bishop, the Deacon, has no more sway or influence with God than you do. IF you KNOW Him…you have total access!
So, “Let us come boldly before the throne of grace” and find just what we need for today!
