Yesterday, my friend Heidi came over, and we had a great time of fellowship. We shared our concerns, our fears, our joys…things of everyday life. Then, we prayed. We prayed for our children, our husbands, our church, our dreams…we got serious with God. It was wonderful to have someone there to share my burdens with!
By the time she left, I felt exhilarated! My level of anxiety for all the concerns I had before she came, had all but disappeared. Why?? Because of prayer, and bearing one another’s burdens!
I hadn’t had time before she came to read my devotional, so when she left, I picked it up. I was amazed at what I read! It was in OUR DAILY BREAD, and I want to share part of it with you now.
It was talking about toys for kids, and how “A stick, a box, string, a cardboard tube, and dirt,” are the best toys our children could have, because they are all powered by imagination. It went on to say, and I quote, “Often our experience limits our prayers-a situation we can’t picture being different; destructive habits that remain unbroken’ long-held attitudes that seem to defy change. As time passes, we may begin to feel that some things cannot be changed.” But the BIBLE says…that is not true! “By God’s mighty power working in us, He is able to do far more than we may dare to ask or even dream of.”-David McCasland of Our Daily Bread.
PRAYER CHANGES THINGS! WE MUST NEVER MEASURE GOD’S UNLIMITED POWER BY OUR LIMITED EXPECTATIONS!
I can truly say “AMEN!” to that! I experienced it yesterday!
