Before drawing a promise from my box this morning, I prayed for less stress in my day.  This request was prompted by my visit to the Doctor yesterday.  The blood pressure cuff revealed all the turmoil I was feeling inside.  I was shocked!  My blood pressure has always been normal; but the last visit  revealed a change…it was alarmingly high, and   yesterday…it was the worst ever!  The nurse took it on the right…it was 170/90.  So she took it on the left…it was 168/99.  YIKES!  At first, I laughed and told the nurse, “I warned you not to weigh me first!  That would raise anyone’s blood pressure!”  Then, I realized…I’m one of those, “Hold it all inside”…”Try to fix it myself” folks.  Anyway…hence the request to the Lord this morning.

Here is the promise I drew from the box.  It was two-sided, which is unusual.  I believe God was trying to drive home a message to me.

Prayer:  Attend unto my cry; for I am brought very low.  Psalm 142:6

Promise:  The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms.  Deut. 33:27

The other side said this:

Prayer:  Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness.  Psalm 4:1

Promise:  Call upon me in the day of trouble;  I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.  Psalm 50:15

As if that were not enough…I reached for my new devotional from my Daily Bread.  The verse for it was:  “Away from me, all you who do evil, for the Lord has heard my weeping.  Psalm 6:8

David cried a lot to the Lord in his troubles.  In Psalm 6:2-4, he cried, “Have mercy on me Lord….My soul is in deep anguish.  How long Lord?  How long?  Turn Lord, and deliver me.”

Now, it may seem that I’m lecturing you…but I’m really preaching to myself!  I, need to let go of all the junk I’m holding on to…stop trying to fix things myself, and give them all to the Lord!  My heart can’t take it anymore!  My blood pressure is a testament to that fact!
