TEDDY…October 14, 2015

 As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. 39 She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. 40 But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!”

41 “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, 42 but few things are needed—or indeed only one.[a] Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”-Luke 10:38-42

There’s an old hymn called:  Sitting At The Feet Of Jesus.  Here is the first verse.

Sitting at the feet of Jesus,
Where can mortal be more blest?
There I lay my sins and sorrows,
And, when weary, find sweet rest;
Sitting at the feet of Jesus,
There I love to weep and pray;
While I from His fullness gather
Grace and comfort every day. -J. H. T. and John Stainer

We have a new member in our family!  He’s a little dog that looks like Benji, but only half the size.  His name is Teddy.

Now, I’m more of a cat person myself, but this little guy has won my heart over!  He’s like my shadow…he follows me everywhere!  When I get up…he gets up.  When I sit down…he sits next to me.  If I am in the kitchen, he’s laying at my feet.

I wasn’t used to this, and tripped several times!  At first, it was cute…then it was kind of annoying; now…it’s a comfort.  I KNOW he loves and trusts me fully!

The other day, I was cooking, and Mike, my husband, was on the lap-top.  “Where’s Teddy?”, he asked.  “Here…at my feet!”, I replied.  No sooner were those words out of my mouth, and I heard God speak to me.  It was almost audible.  I heard Him say:  “That’s the kind of relationship I want with you!  I want you to adore me so much, that you follow me everywhere; be my shadow…sit at my feet!”

Wow!  What an eye-opener!  To realize that we are not annoying God when we constantly call on Him.  Quite the contrary!  This is what He desires us to do; for in our weakness, His strength is made strong!

When that dog sits at my feet, he’s really telling me that he needs me.  He can’t stand to be without me.  If I put him out in the yard on his leash, and I move from his line of sight…he barks and cries and tears up the earth!

THAT is how we should be with God!  We have to realize that we need Him…we can’t live without Him.  We ought to want to keep Him in our line of sight; and if he seems to disappear…we should cry out to Him, like the blind man in the Bible (Luke 18:39: …”but he cried out all the more, Son of David, have mercy on me!”)

Call on Him until you see his face!  He WILL answer!
