We Must Go

Tim Hughes – God Of Justice

God of Justice, Savior to all

Came to rescue the weak and the poor

Chose to serve and not be served

Jesus, You have called us. Freely we’ve received

Now freely we will give

We must go, live to feed the hungry

Stand beside the broken, we must go

Stepping forward, keep us from just singing

Move us into action, we must go

To act justly everyday, loving mercy in every way

Walking humbly before You God

You have shown us what You require

Freely we’ve received

Now freely we will give

Fill us up and send us out!

Mark 5:5  (NIV)

Jesus Restores a Demon-Possessed Man

5 They went across the lake to the region of the Gerasenes.  2 When Jesus got out of the boat, a man with an impure spirit came from the tombs to meet him. This man lived in the tombs, and no one could bind him anymore, not even with a chain. 4 For he had often been chained hand and foot, but he tore the chains apart and broke the irons on his feet. No one was strong enough to subdue him. 5 Night and day among the tombs and in the hills he would cry out and cut himself with stones.

6 When he saw Jesus from a distance, he ran and fell on his knees in front of him. 7 He shouted at the top of his voice, “What do you want with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? In God’s name don’t torture me!” 8 For Jesus had said to him, “Come out of this man, you impure spirit!”

9 Then Jesus asked him, “What is your name?”

“My name is Legion,” he replied, “for we are many.” 10 And he begged Jesus again and again not to send them out of the area.

11 A large herd of pigs was feeding on the nearby hillside. 12 The demons begged Jesus, “Send us among the pigs; allow us to go into them.” 13 He gave them permission, and the impure spirits came out and went into the pigs. The herd, about two thousand in number, rushed down the steep bank into the lake and were drowned.

14 Those tending the pigs ran off and reported this in the town and countryside, and the people went out to see what had happened. 15 When they came to Jesus, they saw the man who had been possessed by the legion of demons, sitting there, dressed and in his right mind; and they were afraid. 16 Those who had seen it told the people what had happened to the demon-possessed man—and told about the pigs as well. 17 Then the people began to plead with Jesus to leave their region.

18 As Jesus was getting into the boat, the man who had been demon-possessed begged to go with him. 19 Jesus did not let him, but said, “Go home to your own people and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.” 20 So the man went away and began to tell in the Decapolis  how much Jesus had done for him. And all the people were amazed.

John 9:4 NIV

As long as it is day, we must do the works of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work.

Acts 10:38

how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him.

John 9:4 NIV

As long as it is day, we must do the works of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work.

John 6:27  NIV

Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For on him God the Father has placed his seal of approval.”

Colossians 1:23 MSG

21-23 You yourselves are a case study of what he does. At one time you all had your backs turned to God, thinking rebellious thoughts of him, giving him trouble every chance you got. But now, by giving himself completely at the Cross, actually dying for you, Christ brought you over to God’s side and put your lives together, whole and holy in his presence. You don’t walk away from a gift like that! You stay grounded and steady in that bond of trust, constantly tuned in to the Message, careful not to be distracted or diverted. There is no other Message—just this one.

1 Peter 1:6-7

I know how great this makes you feel, even though you have to put up with every kind of aggravation in the meantime. Pure gold put in the fire comes out of it proved pure; genuine faith put through this suffering comes out proved genuine. When Jesus wraps this all up, it’s your faith, not your gold, that God will have on display as evidence of his victory.

STARS April 19, 2015

“”God made two great lights…; He made the stars also”  Genesis 1:16

I am so very glad the stars are way up high above me and not beneath my feet, where we could trample on them like tiny little pebbles out there on the street.

Because they are up there in the sky, we can’t step on them, and we can’t touch them.  God does this so they will continue to shine so beautiful and bright.

I think it is such a beautiful and wonderous thing that God created them, that they shine and glimmer so very far away; like a million little lights guiding us on our way.

When I look up at those beautiful and wonderous bright and shiny stars, I thank God for such a beautiful and lovely gift.

Sometimes when I’m looking up into the sky at the stars, it makes me feel like I am looking into the bright and so very, very loving eyes of our strong and wonderful Lord Jesus Christ.

HE’LL LIGHTEN THE LOAD! April 18, 2015

You may feel lost and alone, But God knows right where you are,

The weight of the moment, literally crushing your heart,

His mercy will show itself, His grace will be true,

His love never-ending of that you can be sure

His love has a plan for you, His love is the cure.

For God is not far, nearer than you believe.

He is right there beside you, you just have to believe,

He bears all our burdens, and cares for us more,

Than we can imagine, of that you can be sure.

His love has a plan for you, His love is the cure.

When burdened and worried ‘bout life’s long dark road,

Lift up your heart’s troubles, let God lighten the load,

His mercy will show itself, His grace will be true,

To work out the plan He has waiting for you,

His love’s never ending, his heart’s on you to be sure,

His love has a plan for you, His Love is the cure.

HURRY! HURRY! HURRY! April 17, 2015

“giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”  Ephesians 5: 20 The sun comes up…we’re on our way; Off to work in a hurry…no time to pray! Not a moment to waste…not a minute to spare; Too busy deciding just what we should wear. Can’t find the keys, and the cell phone is dead… Must find the charger…no time for devotions to be read! No time to lift up our head to say, “Thank you God for waking me up today!” Don’t remember His name…no thoughts of Him, Until we run into a big problem! Or, maybe we’re mad, and His name’s said THAT way… Don’t you think it would have been easier just to pray? Yes!  Tomorrow morning, that’s how I’ll start my day… By lifting my head, or bowing to say: “I NEED YOU Lord Jesus…keep me in your way, And just get me through this crazy day!” By”  Anita Mondragon May 2011

TOMMY’S PRAYER April 15, 2015

“I waited patiently for the Lord; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.”  Psalms 40:1

In a dark and dismal alley where the sunshine never came, dwelt a little lad named Tommy, sick and delicate and lame.

He was six was little Tommy and ’twas five years ago that his drunken mother dropped him, and the babe was crippled so.

‘Twas a quiet summer evening, and the alley too was still,

Tommy’s little heart was breaking, and he felt so lonely ’til,

Floating up the quiet alley, coming inward from the street, came the sound of someone singing, sounding oh so clear and sweet!

‘Twas a maiden rough and rouged, hair unkempt and naked feet, all her garments torn and ragged, her appearance far from neat.

“So, you called me?”, said the maiden.  “Wonder what you want of me.  Most folks call me singing Jessie…what may your name chance to be?”

“My name is Tommy, and I want to hear you sing, for it makes me feel so happy…sing me something…anything.

Jessie laughed and answered smiling, “I can’t stay here very long, but I’ll sing a song to please you…one I call, ‘The Glory Song.”

So, she sang to him of heaven, pearly gates and streets of gold, where the happy angel children are not starved or nipped with cold.

Oh how Tommy’s eyes did glisten as he drank in every word, as it fell from singing Jessie; was it true what he had heard?

And so anxiously he asked her, “Is there really such a place?” and a tear began to trickle down his pallid little face.

So the ragged little maiden who had heard at Sunday school, all about the way to heaven and the Christian golden rule,

Taught the little crippled Tommy how to love and how to pray, then she sang a song of Jesus, kissed his cheek and went away.

Tommy lay within that cellar, which had grown so dark and cold, thinking all about the children in the streets of shining gold.

“Oh, if I could only see it,” thought the cripple as he lay, “Jessie said that Jesus listens, so I think I’ll try to pray.”

So he put his hands together, and he closed his little eyes, and in accents weak, yet earnest, sent this message to the skies:

Gentle Jesus, please forgive me as I didn’t know ‘afore that you cared for little cripples that is weak and very poor; and I never heard of heaven ’till that Jessie came today, and told me all about it, now I want to try to pray.

Lord, I’m only just a cripple and I’ve no use here below, for I’ve heard my mother whisper she’d be glad if I could go.  I’m so cold and hungry, and I feel so lonesome too…can’t you take me gentle Jesus up to heaven along with you?  Oh, I’d be so good and patient, and I’d never make a noise…can’t you find me just a corner where I’d watch the other boys?

How I long to see you Jesus, and the children all so bright…come and fetch me…won’t you Jesus? ….Come and fetch me home tonight!

Tommy ceased his supplication, he had told his soul’s desire; then he turned toward a corner ’till his head begin to tire.

He had only heard of Jesus from a ragged singing girl.  He might well have wondered…pondered, ’till his head begin to whirl.  But he took it as she told it, and believed it then and there, simply trusting in the Savior and His kind and gentle care.

In the morning, when the mother came to wake her crippled boy, she discovered that his features wore the look of sweetest joy.

Then she shook him somewhat roughly, but the cripple’s face was cold.  He had gone to join the children in the streets of shining gold.

Yes, Tommy’s prayer had soon been answered, and the angel death had come

To remove him from that cellar to his bright and heavenly home; Where sweet peace, joy and happiness never ceases… never ends;

And where Jesus reigns eternally…Tommy’s everlasting friend!

THE MEANING OF LIFE April 15, 2015

“Bring my sons from afar, and my daughters from the ends of the earth: everyone who is called by My Name, whom I created for My Glory, whom I formed and made.”  Isaiah 43:6-7

Pablo Picasso once said: “The meaning of life is to find your gift.  The purpose of life is to give it away.”

What do you think the purpose of life is?  Many people think the purpose is to be happy.  If that is our belief, when we face difficult times, we will have real problems.

Look at what is happening in the Middle East, for example.  How will we pray for persecuted Christians?  How will we face persecution ourselves?

But, if we believe we are created for God’s glory, that changes everything!  We can pray for ourselves, and for our fellow believers, that our lives will bring glory to God in every circumstance.

GOD WITH US April 14, 2015

“My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”       Exodus 33:14

Lord, I am happy today, because I know that you are always by my side.  I know that you will guide my path and direct my work.  I know that you will bless me with all of your power, love and strength.  I am happy because you are always with me!

A REMODEL April 13, 2015

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away, behold, all things have become new.”             2 Corinthians 5:17″

Alistair Begg once said:  “The only thing we bring to our salvation is the sin for which we need forgiveness…”

A kitchen remodel…so exciting!

I can see the finished picture in my mind!  Exciting, yet humbling; for every new thing that goes in, requires that the old must be removed.

Upon tearing out the old, un-noticed messes and flaws are revealed, hidden before behind a façade of white cabinets.  Cabinets old and worn, but not looking that bad on the surface.  However, if one were to examine them more carefully, they would find broken drawers, lopsided doors, missing screws, and stains not easily erased.

Pulling out each old cabinet, I was shocked at what I found!  Globs of grease and dirt and spider webs were hidden on the backside.  GROSS!  Had I known, a change would have occurred long ago!

Then I thought about myself before Jesus, the Master Builder came in and did some reconstruction.  He did a complete gut job on me…all the old things had to go!

Behind my façade of innocence, I was old in spirit, and worn out.  My heart was broken, my life, upside down; and I was dirty and stained by many sins…and believe me, I was missing more than a few screws!

BUT GOD…

He was excited!  He could see the finished picture.  He could use what He saw…He just needed to remove the old things, and replace them with something better…something new.  He did some reconfiguring, and WOW!  What a difference those changes made!

Does your life need some remodeling?  TRY JESUS!  Just call Him at 1-800-PLZ-HELP!  You’ll never get His voice mail…He always picks up! …and…HIS work, is 100% Guaranteed!

THE LAW OF CHRIST… April 12, 2015

“Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.”  Galatians 6:2

In regards to the time when I was struggling with big issues with my teenagers, I learned another important lesson.

I was in a small group at my church, and every time I went to small group, the Lord would whisper to me to tell my sisters in small group about my problems during prayer time.  For weeks, I would say, “no.”  I was ashamed of the things that were going on with my teens, and was so afraid my friends would judge me.

Finally, one night, I said yes to God, and shared my problems with my friends, asking for prayer.

The response was amazing!  They love me, and helped bear my burdens.  I learned so much about what the church is designed to be through that experience!  And, I found myself wondering why on earth I had kept all that to myself through that terrible time!

SHARE YOUR BURDENS…IT MAKES THEM EASIER TO BEAR!

BLESSED BE THE LORD April 11, 2015

“He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.  I will say to the Lord, “my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust!”  Psalms 91:1-2

Lord, we are blessed by you.  You are always there with us.  You are our Rock and you guide us always; so Lord, we pray that you guide and direct us in all of our ways.  In our work, in the things we think about and say to those around us, and in all that may be happening in this world.

Lord bless us, and keep us always.  We put our trust in you FOREVER!
