“And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that belong to me; and he divided unto him his living.” Luke 15:12
In verse twelve, the son leaves his family and home, demanding of the father, “give me my portion of goods.” When he returns, he asks his father to, “make me one of your hired servants.”
Here is the question we need to ask ourselves:
How do we come to our (Heavenly) Father? When we come in prayer, are we demanding, saying, “give me…”? Or are we asking Him to, “Make me…” one of your servants”?
